Goals, Guilt, and Gerald McRaney

Ok, this post really doesn’t have much of anything to do with Gerald McRaney. I just wanted a 3rd “G” item to make the title sound more important or soothing or something. One of those straggling bits of information from college that lodged itself in my brain – For some reason we just like things more when they’re grouped into 3s. I may also have been watching a lot of Major Dad on Hulu lately – but that’s a tangent for another day.

As you can see, I haven’t posted in forever. Again. I could go on an tell you how sorry I am and write paragraphs talking about how I’m going to do better and that this is a problem I’m going to overcome. I could also tell you how busy I’ve been or give you some other excuse as to why I haven’t written in awhile. But, I don’t want to do that, you don’t want to read that, and I think, by now, we’ve both pretty much just accepted that this is who I am. So let’s move on, shall we?

It’s finally beautiful outside. It’s finally bike riding weather. I’ve been doing less driving and more pedaling. Because it’s nice. And I want to not spend money on gas. While I was out in the sunshine this afternoon, my mind wandered off. I thought about stuff I’d like to someday trick out my bike with….

1) Turn Signals and Brake Lights

I hate doing hand signals. Also, I just think this would be pretty neat and work better when it’s dark – I often get off work after dark. I managed to find a couple of options for this. Instructables has a pretty neat DIY tutorial. Alternatively, DesignBloom has an LED turn signal jacket. How awesome is that?

2) A Pull-Behind Carrier

More and more of my friends and family members are popping out babies. My boyfriend has nephews, I recently welcomed a new cousin, and I know others who are trying to make genetic copies of themselves. Perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a carrier to take mini-people out on joyrides to bask in the wonders of nature. They also make cargo carriers for hauling non-persons. You can find them online and buy one, or, this guy built his own.

3) A New Paint Job

Eventually, I will sand down the frame and repaint it. I can make it my own moving work of art. I’ve even considered using plastic string to crochet a decorative frame cover.

4) A Grocery Basket

Because I can’t fit everything in my backpack. Also, I just think they look pretty cool.

5) An iPod Mount

It’d be nice to be able to listen to some music while I ride down the road, you know?

Ok. That’s it. I just thought I would share some of my thoughts. And now, I’m going to go be productive and stuff.
